What is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is the world’s largest generosity movement. Launched in 2012, it started as a simple idea: a day to encourage people to do good—whether that’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger, supporting a cause you care about, or donating to those in need. Since its inception, GivingTuesday has grown into a global movement that harnesses the power of individuals and organizations to transform communities and the world.
Why is GivingTuesday held at this time of year?
GivingTuesday takes place on the first Tuesday of December, offering an opportunity to support the organizations you care about early in the month. By doing so, you can enter the festive season knowing you’ve made a difference in your community. It was created as an alternative to Black Friday, shifting focus from spending money on material goods to investing in causes that matter.
Why does Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre participate in GivingTuesday?
PWRC relies entirely on the generosity of donors like you. GivingTuesday is a vital part of our annual fundraising efforts and helps us maintain operations throughout the winter months, which is traditionally our “quiet season.” The support we receive on this day allows us to continue our important work, rehabilitating and caring for wildlife in need.
How can you support PWRC on GivingTuesday?
There are many ways you can help us make the most of GivingTuesday! Here are a few ideas:
