Preparing Pumpkin Seeds for the Critters
Every year, we dry our pumpkin seeds for the critters at PWRC. It takes no time and very easy to do. First preheat your oven to 250 degrees.
Try to separate the bigger chunks and slimy pieces of pumpkin and place the seeds on a cookie sheet. Put in the oven for an hour or two until the seeds are completely dry. I’ve made a few batches and if those seeds aren’t completely dry, they will go moldy in a plastic bag. Viola- pumpkin seeds for the critters.
Here’s a great spicy recipe I use for some of the pumpkin seeds for us to enjoy. Clean the pumpkin seeds more thoroghly.
For one cup of seeds, add: 1/2 tsp worchesters sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp celery salt, 2 tbsp vegetable oil. Mix together and spread on a cookie sheet. Cook at250 degrees for one hour. Toss once and a while.
