Groundhog’s Day-February 2nd

Well it started out as a chilly morning and with no clouds in sight.  Willow, the woodchuck, woke up after a bit of prodding and the temptation of fruit pieces she emerged from her den.  Eventually, she saw her shadow.  For us Manitobans, it means another six weeks of winter.  In some ways that’s good. We’re wanting a slow melt as our current outdoor enclosures are located in the flood zone.  With the huge amount of snow this year, we’re very scared to see how much water will be coming.

Today, Willow had a busy day as she was out at a presentation this afternoon.  If you’re interested in an willow appearance, please contact our Education Coordinator at wilded@pwildlife.ca.
