A big Thank you to Fort Richmond YIP

Tuesday evening we were invited to the Youth in Philanthropy Celebration sponsored by the Winnipeg Foundation.  The Youth in Philantropy is a program where students are introduced to non-profit charities and philantropy. Selected high schools must first form a committee (YIP) and then they have to decide how $5000 will be distribute to the local charities. The students select charities matching their values and what’s important to them, whereas, the charities propose how they will use the funds.  We met with a group from Fort Richmond Collegiate to discuss how we would benefit from $1000.  As we are a grassroots organization, we are still in need of outdoor enclosures and proposed the $1000 for this project.  Thankfully they accepted our proposal and we were granted the full $1000.  Thank you to the students of Fort Richmond Collegiate YIP committee and to The Winnipeg Foundation for creating the YIP program.
